MALENE MARKUSSEN IS AN ARTIST AND SONGWRITER LIVING IN OSLO. 

WITH A LOVE FOR ALL KINDS OF EMOTIONAL MUSIC, HER HER GOAL IS TO MAKE MUSIC THAT CAN INSPIRE AND MOVE THE LISTENER THROUGH GOOD MELODIES AND INTIMATE LYRICS..

Background:

Malene Markussen began singing and playing guitar at the age of 14 in her hometown of Vestby, Norway. She received classical vocal training while simultaneously forming a rock band and performing in local musicals. During her teenage years, she was awarded Drømmestipendet—a national scholarship given to young talents who actively contribute to local arts and culture.

With her band, she performed at various rock clubs and music venues across Norway. The group released one album and one EP, and was nominated for Live Band of the Year by the music magazine Musikkpraksis before disbanding in 2014.

SOLO- CARRER:

In September 2015, Malene made her solo debut with the Norwegian-language single Alt Du Finner—a minimalistic pop track that paved the way for her debut album Aldri I Ro, released in 2016 on her own label, Markussen Music. The album blends alternative pop with deeply personal themes, and centers around the idea of constant movement and growth.

In 2017, she teamed up with renowned producers Peter Michelsen (Donkeyboy) and Christoffer Simpson (The Norwegian Sound), resulting in a series of singles that led to her second solo album Under Vann, released in 2019. The album explores the fragile aspects of human nature, telling stories of both vulnerability and resilience. Two tracks were featured on prominent Spotify playlists such as New Music Friday and Made in Norway, and received national radio airplay.

After signing with a UK-based publishing company, Malene shifted focus toward an international audience. She began releasing English-language singles, leading up to her third solo album Some Kind of Rescue, which was released in 2022.

EDM/HOUSE CARRER 

In 2023 Malene joined HITVOCALS as a topliner and already have 15 + songs cut by different produers/DJs, which has motived her to keep moving down this direction. Her song “ Surrender Me” me which was originly releaed for her own project has been sold several times as a non-exclusive topline. This inclues the  DJ/Porducer “ Lister” where the song is featured on his album “ Hold On”. 

CURRENT PLANS

Being signed with DWB Music Publishing in 2024, the artist has been focusing on continuing to develop as a writer, not only for her own project for different internation projects. Being one of the topliners for the music platform HITVOCALS,  she have already found herself starting to have some sucsess in the EDM/HOUSE genre.

Malene is also working on developing her production skills in the hopes of being able to release more music on her own project.
